Hello,
I will start with a quick story about how the company's name came about. Asomina (Ah-sa-mi-nah) is not a real word, but according to my dutiful husband, I often mutter this word while sleeping. It became a running joke in our household and is now part of our everyday conversation—so much so that we decided to assign it a meaning: The Goodness. With such a happy meaning, how could I not call the company Asomina?
I started Asomina Consulting LLC after 27 years in the software industry. My journey began as a developer using COBOL and JCL, but I quickly learned I was not meant to be a developer! I switched gears and restarted my career in application support, and over the years, I have gained experience in Quality Assurance, Business Analysis, Scrum Master, and Product Ownership. I eventually landed in what I believe to be my calling, IT Project Management. My career path has exposed me to many software development and implementation styles, with some side trips into finance, data governance, change control, Agile methodologies, and many more. I am very grateful to have walked this path, as I would not be where I am now without taking the long way around.
My industry experience includes architecture & engineering, banking, mortgages, finance, elections, medical manufacturing, and insurance/claims adjusting. This broad range of industries and positions has allowed me to work with people from all over the globe, from offshore support to in-house C Suite executives. While I have learned much over the years, the key lesson that will always be my North Star is that people are the most essential aspect of any project. I believe in a people-first approach not only at work but in life. Regardless of location, we are all human with different strengths and weaknesses. I believe in harnessing those strengths and weaknesses to get the most out of my team while ensuring that team members enjoy their work and are proud of what they produce. While my knowledge and experience in the various project management methodologies are the backbone of my skill set, my firm belief in teamwork and comradery has helped me excel in my field. I genuinely find people fascinating, which is perhaps why I started my educational journey by obtaining a degree in Sociology. A good leader can work with team members to discover what they need to perform at their best. I carry this mindset into the room when meeting with clients. My team and I will work with you to determine which methodology and communication style will work best for you.
Please reach out to us today and "Discover the goodness!"
Warm Regards,
Susan Penney Medina
